POLISARIO CELEBRATED 50 YEARS OF FREEDOM MOVEMENT, AFRICAN COUNTRIES WHERE ARE WE WHILE OUR DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS SUFFERS?

By: Moses Ntandu

My big question is where are we as African countries and what are we doing as an efforts as one voice to our relatives Western Sahara who suffers at the desert while their resources are there and super fertile land is there occupied by other African country?

What if our former leaders like Mwl Julius Kambarage Nyerere of Tanzania, Kwame Nkruma of Ghana, Ahmed Ben Bella of Algeria, Nelson Mandela of South Africa and others who were African freedom fighters raise up now and find that one of our fellow African country is still colonised by one of the African country.

This question and many other questions must be on our minds as Africans regardless of our positions and authorities. What is happening in Western Sahara is terrible and shame and must be cursed in any way with all well wishers.

One of the worst thing to witness in this 21st century in Africa is colonialism error of the same continent. Western Sahara being colonised by Morocco is shame.

It is so sad to see a fellow African relative exploiting his or her fellow instead of helping and give him or her a hand of help. This is shame and is more than inhumanity.

What is going on in the land of Western Sahara is criminal against humanity and all African countries, international organisations and other countries out of Africa must raise the voice to support this last African colony to be free

Western Sahara as a nation in Africa and founder member of the African Union is still colonised by Morocco regardless many efforts done for them to be free but still their territory is occupied.

During the weekend President of the Republic of Western Sahara, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, paid a vibrant tribute to Algeria and President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for the unvering support to the Sahrawi people and its just cause.

In that speech he marked the beginning of the festivities of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Polisario Front and the outbreak of the outbreak of the armed struggle against the Spanish colonizer and the Moroccan occupier.

President Ghali assured that “Algeria and at its President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has reaffirmed its position totally consistent with the charter and resolutions of the United Nations and the Constitutive Act of the African Union and especially with the principles and values of the glorious revolution of November 1, 1954. My thanks and gratitude to the Algerian people and to the great Algerian State” he said.

Brahim also praised the African continent, its peoples and its states that have considered the Sahrawi cause as a just African cause. He also greeted all the African liberation movements “whose struggle for the liberation of Africa from all forms of colonization unites us”.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Polisario Front and the outbreak of the armed struggle, the Sahrawi authorities have organized a rich and varied program. In addition to military and civilian performances, they arranged numerous thematic conferences on May 20 and 21, as well as round tables related to the Sahrawi issue.

The program of festivities also includes events highlighting the genius of the Sahrawi woman in addition to a fair dedicated to books written by Sahrawi authors.

On other side the governor of the (wilaya) of Awsard district, Ms. Khira Bulahi, welcomed the delegations participating in the Conference, praising their role in accompanying the struggle of the Saharawi people and its just cause, calling for intensifying efforts to defend the Sahrawi cause worldwide.

The International Conference of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People aspires to establish parliamentary groups of solidarity with the Sahrawi people as a step that will strengthen parliamentary diplomacy in its various aspects.

Meanwhile the military parade organized during the event as part of the festivities marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Polisario Front and the outbreak of the Sahrawi armed struggle was worthy of the event and the expectations of the Sahrawis, revealing in particular the high level of professionalism and the good preparation of the units of the Sahrawi army, as well as the most modern logistical and military capabilities.

The infantry forces that opened the parade executed the tight order exercise with perfection as the mechanized infantry, as well as the health, engineering and customs formations unveiled weapons and advanced equipment.

The same professionalism has been demonstrated, to a high degree, by special forces units. Units of military women also participated in the parade.

The other characteristic noted at the level of the various formations is the homogeneity between the former soldiers and the young elements which showed, in a certain way, that the succession was assured.

According to information provided during the military parade, the units of the Sahrawi army undergo the strictest military training in order to be effective in all circumstances. An efficiency noted, moreover, on the ground and now recognized worldwide.

The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, warmly praised the ardor and the will to win that characterize the units of the Sahrawi army, stressing that these assets has been inherited from the older generations like El Wali Mustapha Sayed and Mohamed Abdelaziz.

The Tanzanian ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) is one of the freedom movement fighter and good friend of the Polisario movement mission, supports the freedom movement of the people of Western Sahara. CCM has good history for liberation especially almost all the countries in the southern African zone.

Even the source of the name Chama Cha Mapinduzi means the revolutionary party which aimed on liberating the African continent from the colonial power.

The support of Tanzania to Polisario is a history because it has been there since during the freedom fighting of Tanganyika under the late Mwl Julius Kambarage Nyerere.

Last year November 2022 President Brahimi Ghali visited Tanzania and attended the General assembly meeting of the CCM in Dodoma and addressed the Congregation where he insisted more support from Tanzania as the root of the late Mwl Julius Kambarage Nyerere still standing firm.
